Famed as a great way to shed a couple of pounds before indulging in the traditional food festivities, Mile High United Way Turkey Trot, was founded right here in Denver, Colorado by a group of visionaries: a woman and five clergymen who believed there must be a better way to meet the needs of local people as a proven method to join with others to ponder upon and tackle the community's most pressing concerns and achieving the mission of uniting and focusing the community's resources to help people help themselves using organized teams of workers to solicit employees in a variety of different businesses.

A well organized event providing fun for the whole family, including the dog in Washington Park, the road race hosting thousands of runners and walkers, is fast and flat and a great way to start your day and eat your Thanksgiving dinner guilt free after the awards ceremony immediately following the race at noon.

Public awareness, education, and training are key components used by the united ways for reducing violence and create a vision of togetherness to make life better for everyone.

Start date: 2006- 11- 23
End date: 2006- 11- 23.
