Pulitzer Prize

The Denver Post is a Pulitzer-Prize-winning newspaper based in Denver, Colorado. The Denver Post garnered a Pulitzer Prize in 1964 due to Paul Conrad’s editorial cartoons; another Pulitzer Prize in 1967 after Pat Oliphant came out with his brand of editorial cartooning; a third Pulitzer Prize in year 1984 after Anthony Suau did work as a photographer for them; a fourth Pulitzer Prize in 1986 when the newspaper ran a public service series about missing children; and the last Pulitzer Prize in 2000 when they covered the killings at Columbine High School. The Denver Post may be known nowadays for producing quality news coverage but its history has been quite rocky. The newspaper has been able to garner other awards from other organizations as well.

Journalism awards

Many journalism awards have been arriving at The Denver Post’s doorstep - such as that awarded in 2007, when the series of blizzards in the state made the newspaper become a Pulitzer Prize finalist that year for its coverage. The Society of American Business Editors and Writers (or SABEW) granted four awards to The Denver Post due to its 2006 coverage of the alarming mortgage foreclosures in Colorado. During “The Best of the West” contest for Business and Financial Reporting in 2007, former Denver Post reporter Eric Gorski won the first place award for his article entitled “The Gospel of Prosperity.” It was also recognized by the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters for the award for general excellence in 2007, aside from other awards.
